Day 20

Love at Home

Happy Valentines Day! This is my second valentines day with my sweet husband and this time we decided to keep it real humble! Thats what he has taught me about love! Love is humble, gentle, and kind!
He always reminds me that I am worth everything and that I am beautiful! So we decided to just be us on this national holiday!

We blew up the air mattress in our living room, made our favorite broccoli and cheese soup and watched The Proposal (my fav chick flick)! It was perfect!

I have always been so blessed to be in a home full of love! That is something that is so important to me. Being loved, showing love, and knowing you are loved. To have a home full of love is a joy. That is lesson #20.

Make everywhere you call home full of love!

Whether it’s your apartment, dorm, home, or wherever, make sure its full of love! Spend time decorating, encouraging, and building confidence of all of those around you! Everyone needs a little bit of love and that is so important to remember! Everyone around you is struggling or facing some battle, so be kind, and be loving! You could make all the difference for someone so important!

Day 19

Ditch the Ramen, Try this Out!

When I started college, the number one thing everyone told me, was that Ramen would become my #1 food choice!

However, they were wrong! When I came to college, I found a new love for cooking!

Lesson #19!

Don’t be scared to try new things!

Find something new to cook! And whatever happens, don’t live off of Ramen!

Day 18

90%

Thats right! You read it! You heard it! I did it! I have been working my butt off in my physiology class and I aced my second test! I got a 90%! And I for sure earned it!

I am grateful for the ability I have to learn every day

I am grateful for my husband who always pushes me to be great

I am grateful for a college education

I am grateful for the ability I have to learn

I am grateful for all that I have

I am grateful

That is lesson #18!

When you fall hard and then succeed gratitude is key!

Keep pushing on! Keep working hard! Never give up! You can do it!

Day 17

Someday Could Be Today

The truth is every day you wake up and attend the same classes one after another, most days you will want to quit. Sometimes you’ll even try to switch careers and life goals. You’ll want to become an interior designer or professional blogger for the rest of your life instead of suffering through one more bad grade. However, I promise that you’ll wake up two days later and be so glad you didn’t.

Hard work and perseverance aren’t just things that land on our desks and immediately place themselves in our minds. They take work. LOL hard work takes work, go figure right?

I know that every homework assignment, essay, every tear and every sacrifice will pay off. So I know I am not there yet but you can call me Dr. Alyna DeLaigle, OD.

Because I know that I will make it. I will be there one day. That is lesson #17!

“Someday” will come a lot faster than you think

Someday could be today if you work for it! For some it will be tomorrow and for others it will be years from now, but its coming!

Day 16

Spring Break Planning… Already!

Listen, your girl will not stand for no being lazy, wasting time, sitting around for Spring Break! I love to travel and go and breathe during spring break! That is also why I find summers to be so sacred.

So even though it is a month away, I have already planned everything! This time last year, I went to Disneyland and got engaged! Nothing will ever top that spring break!! BUT, this March my sweet husband and I are planning on making it back to visit my family! And I am so excited!

This is going to be a simple lesson today! Lesson #16!

Save money, pick a location, and run away for spring break!

In my opinion only professors who hate you or their lives will give homework over the break! So if that’s the case, bring it with you, but avoid it till last minute and just have fun!

Spring breaks aren’t a real thing in the big kid world, so as a college junior, JUST ENJOY THEM! They will disappear quickly and you’ll wish you could have them back!

Day 15

Setting a Study Schedule…

…Is really hard! I am terrible at schedules, because they get so boring! No one wants to do the same thing every single day! So I have come up with a schedule and a reward system.

I work my butt off Monday-Friday! Each day I reward myself with a fruit snack, a small dessert, a dance party, a school event, or even just a huge hug from my husband! But each time I accomplish my set study schedule, I make sure to remind myself that the sacrifice I made will benefit me in the long run. However, when Saturday and Sunday come, I don’t touch a single ounce of homework! I may choose to study a little bit, but I refuse to do work!

I have found that when I take the time to just relax and focus on something other than school, I truly can find peace and understanding better for the next week. I work hard and for that I should rest hard too! That is lesson #15!

Time working = Time playing!!

I truthfully believe that the most successful people are those who take a healthy and FUN break when they need it! Joy will come when your sacrifices are equal to your rewards.

Day 14

Working 9-5, What a Way to Make a Livin’

Being a college student and having a job is the hardest thing ever, but its also impossible to do with out! Unless you have a full ride (lucky you!), survival is dependent upon a solid job and miracles!

Last semester I was working close to full-time and also taking 17 credit hours. I was drained, ALL THE TIME! I couldn’t balance between school, studying, cleaning, and working!

I was stretched way too thin!

I then took a step back to refocus on what I needed to get done. I needed to rearrange my properties and see if there was a category that I could sacrifice from. For me that category was work. I decided to cut back several hours so that I could spend more time studying. I have already in just five weeks seen my grades and mental health improve. That is lesson #14!

Remember to find balance in your unbalanced schedule!

Taking time to notice if you need more time studying, more time at work, or maybe even less time at school and more time with friends! Just do it! Find that happy medium and watch life get easier as you find balance.

Day 13

A Diamond in the Rough

One of my all time favorite movies is Aladdin! I absolutely love the new real-life remake of the movie! But, as a kid I always connected to the story line and Aladdin. He was tough and independent and because of hard work and love, he became more!

My college experience feels a lot like Aladdin! My first few semesters, I hung out in the background not really trying to hard, just getting by! However, I then decided to step forward, be brave, and get involved. I found myself more in love with college when I took that step! But I learned…

There’s so much more to me!

-Aladdin

Once I gave myself a chance and dived into my education, I realized that under a lot of rough, there was a diamond. That is lesson #13

It’s not what is on the outside, but what is on the inside that counts!

Remember never go speechless, believe that you are more than a street rat, and with a little love and a genie, you can become a diamond, no longer in the rough!

Day 12

Falling in Love

Lesson #12, fall in love! Fall in love while you’re in college. Fall head over heels with someone, what your studying, a new food, a new something! Just fall hard and fall deep! Find someone who will better you! It will make college all that easier! A year ago, I wrote this sweet poem to my now husband and it still holds true!

Four Months

120 Days

Now that’s a long time

No one can fight me on that one

It isn’t a crime

A whole 120 days

With a million different “hey’s”

Filled with “I love you’s”

And the occasional bae

I wonder how long we last

A week

A month

Time just seems to pass

120 Days

Spent by your side

I don’t know what to do

Other than keep falling in love with you

You are my love

My life

and with you,

120 days

has been a breeze!

Day 11

Should’ve Been a Snow Day!

Waking up to a form of a blizzard cascading around my apartment, I snuggled in a few extra more minutes knowing that there was NO way that I had to go to class….. YET I found myself frantically gathering my belongings at 830AM for my 9AM class! I was completely baffled!

But life goes on!

As I trudged through several inches of snow, my tall boots were covered! However, I found myself still trying to learn, half asleep in my chemistry class. I thought about our lives and how that moment 1000% relates!

Sometimes we are covered in several inches of snow, trudging, trying not to slip. We face each day with a new battle, but we find ourselves still sitting, still learning, still pushing on. That is lesson #11!

Let it snow, it can’t hold you back anymore!

Life will get bitter, cold, and even windy, BUT that is okay! Just shovel it out of the way, ice your sidewalks, and enjoy a warm cup of hot chocolate!

PS: Shout out to my Spanish professor who cancelled class!!!
